Real Time Gaming (RTG) Software Review

Real Time Gaming

Real Time Gaming (RTG) has been in operation since 1998 where it was first established in Atlanta Georgia but later moved to Heredia, Costa Rica in 2007. In the same year, the company was acquired by Hastings International and from thereon out has been managed by the HBM Group.

The group has a jagged past with many scandals and player complaints overshadowing their solid software offering. Some of the most infamous RTG powered group of casinos was the Crystal Palace Group, who were the subject of numerous player complaints on player forums across the globe due to their predatory bonus terms and conditions. Many others are also on online casino warning and rogue lists across the internet, due to dishonest practices.

In 2004, RTG casinos again made news when a player won $1.3 million playing high stakes Caribbean 21 on a $1000 deposit. The same player then won $96,000 at another RTG online casino and was subsequently accused of cheating and not paid. The case was settled privately and the details were never disclosed.

While this doesn't have anything to do with RTG itself, their lack of supervision and support of operators running their software could be partly to blame as they offer no financial assistance to operators who run into issues along the way, and no advocacy for player who encounter issues at these casinos either.

RTG powered casinos offer players both a download and no-download version, but playing on the latter is generally not advised as their Flash offering does not compare with that of other software providers and offers a far inferior experience to their download based platform.

When it comes to casino games, RTG online casinos are best known for their video slots and video poker games, yet while many of these are decent, they lack the graphics and sound quality offered by other providers.

They also have a progressive jackpot network whose prize pool is linked across casinos within the group, with the most well-known being Aztec's Millions and Jackpot Pinatas. While the linked network does make the jackpot prizes comparable to those of software giants like Microgaming and Playtech, these jackpots are rarely won and their gradual rate of increase shows a lack of popularity amongst players.

Security offered by these casinos is on par with industry standards, so your information will be safe if you choose to play at casinos using this software, but as a note of caution, always read genuine player reviews of these casinos before playing at them.
